Job summary

Consumers Energy invites applications for Forestry Internships in Michigan. Interns will assist with tree work planning, inventories, data collection, and vegetation management for various utility forestry projects.

Responsibilities include auditing work and supporting storm-related response when needed. Candidates must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Forestry, Environmental Science, Conservation or Arboriculture, with minimum GPA 2.7 and the ability to work

  • Currently pursuing technical related Bachelor's degree.
  • Currently pursuing an Engineering-related Master's while having completed a Bachelor's in applicable field.
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.7 or higher.

  • Inspecting and planning necessary tree work for a wide range of projects.
  • Auditing completed tree work.
  • Data collection, analysis, and input.
  • Assist with tree inventories, vegetation management plans, tree removal assessments, and other utility forestry field activities.
  • Potential storm-related events.

What you will do:

Forestry interns will be assigned a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Inspecting and planning necessary tree work for a wide range of projects;
  • Auditing completed tree work; and
  • Data collection, analysis, and input
  • Assist with tree inventories, vegetation management plans, tree removal assessments, and other utility forestry field activities.
  • Potential storm-related events

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to new assignments and projects

  • Ability and willingness to work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks
  • Prior work and/or internship experience
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Actively enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Forestry, Environmental Science, Conservation or Arboriculture. The following MUST betrue to be eligible for an Intern role.

  • A current student:
  • currently pursuing technical related Bachelor's degree

This role may require reporting to an assigned headquarter. Leaders will discussthe work arrangements which best fit the nature of the work along with overall business needs.
