Job summary

Greenberg Traurig is seeking a diligent Intern for our Government Law and Policy Team in Washington, D.C. The role concentrates on legislative research, memo drafting, and coordination of meetings and events within a fast-paced, professional services environment.

The intern will support multiple team members, handle confidential information, and learn to integrate AI tools responsibly into daily workflows. In-office schedule is 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task under pressure.
  • Strong client service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough legislative research and tracks bills, hearings, and policy proposals.
  • Prepares updates, summaries and memos on legislative activities.
  • Assists in advocacy strategy development and coordination with stakeholders.

Qualified candidates demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities and work in an organized, efficient manner. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.Key Responsibilities:The Intern will be supporting a very busy team. Duties include, but are not limited to:Conducts thorough research on legislative issues, bills, and policy proposalsMonitors and tracks the progress of legislation, committee hearings, and other legislative activities, providing updates, summaries, and detailed memosAssists in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies and initiatives to support the legislative policy goals and objectivesPerforms administrative tasks and schedules and coordinates meetings. Prepares meeting materials and agendas as neededOrganizes and facilitates client focused events, meetings, and fundraisersServes as a key point of administrative contact for clients and business colleagues as well as many public officialsDrafts communication including memos, letters and emailMaintains strict confidentiality on all mattersAssists with the management of client relationshipsCoordinates business development initiatives with marketing departmentHours are 9:00 am - 5:30 pmQualifications:Skills & CompetenciesCandidates should be extremely organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize their workload and work well under pressure.The successful candidate should be a self-starter, forward-thinking, action-oriented and focused.Must have strong client service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a positive can-do attitude.Document Production other than letters is occasional.Education & Prior ExperienceBachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.TechnologyProficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.Demonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environment.Familiarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directed.Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovation.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move from workstation or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with a team to meet with colleagues or supervisor and retrieve work assignments.This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time.Requires manual dexterity to use a phone, enter data into a computer, handle objects, and use office equipment.The expected pay range for this position is:$20 per hourActual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.
