A leading company is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee safety compliance and program implementation in Elk Grove Village. The role involves managing safety audits, providing training, and ensuring adherence to DOT regulations. Ideal candidates will have solid knowledge of safety regulations and strong communication skills, along with experience in managing safety programs.
Job Summary:
Comply with corporate safety standards, effectively implement safety directives, and ensures all safety programs, practices, and procedures implemented are followed to aligned to meet and exceed state, federal and local regulations, which are designed to protect the human, financial, and physical assets of the company; creates a company-wide safety culture through safety training and ensure and manage all risk of the Company’s safety & compliance activities including but not limited to DOT regulation.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement programs to ensure P.B. Industries, Inc. compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, in addition to other environmental health, safety, and loss prevention standards and guidelines.
1. Follow FMCSA's regulations on record keeping of hiring drivers, proper documentation, maintaining required paperwork.
2. Manage the quality of drivers in safety perspective- Develops updates and proactively manages the company’s safety programs, procedures and policies
3. Conducts safety audits of drivers to ensure drivers are complied with DOT regulations in VM, HOS and safety behaviors to prevent any potential accidents or violations
4. Conducts claims investigations and evaluates risk management claims information to identify significant hazards and loss trends; identifies and recommends preventive measures and corrective actions.
5. When needed performs regular physical inspections of owner operator power equipment; identifies hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance, and recommends corrective measures.
6. Provides ongoing safety and loss prevention training at the terminal level to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental losses.
7. Evaluates potential CDL qualified drivers, forwards same to corporate safety for consideration
8. Provides technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to managers and employees regarding safety behaviors, properly utilizing PPE, compliance initiatives.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
