Job summary

CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc. is hiring Intermodal Service Employees to safely place customer freight for movement on trains from origin to terminal destinations across our network. The ISEs ensure freight is available for pickup after arrival at destination terminals.

New hires undergo four days of training at their home terminal, followed by ~8 months of on-the-job training. Minimum qualifications include 18+ years and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Valid Driver's License
• 1 year experience in heavy industrial environment (optional)
• 1 year experience operating heavy machinery (optional)
• 3 years of outdoor work experience (optional)

Responsibilities

• Securement tasks: Ascending/descending rail cars; inspect and secure trailers, containers, and intermodal flatcars; assist lift operators; handle IBC connectors; operate IBC carts; work in outdoor environments around moving equipment.
• Yard and Lift operations: operate hostlers to move equipment; connect/move/park chassis, trailers, and containers; inspect equipment readiness; ascend/descend vehicle ladders; connect/disconnect airlines; operate lift equipment to load/unload trailers and containers; work long hours in cabs; use joysticks, radios, and onboard computers.
• Clerical duties: use Microsoft Office; input/output information for intermodal cars/equipment; knowledge of hazmat requirements and spill response.
• Other duties: follow FRA and AAR securement regulations; team player focused on service and productivity; identify defective components and take corrective action; inspect end-of-train device and perform airbrake tests; maintain securement devices and intermodal equipment; miscellaneous duties as assigned.
