Position Overview

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Intermodal Port Dispatcher to join their dynamic team in Los Angeles. This role is integral to ensuring seamless operations within their intermodal division and requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at decision-making. Prior experience in intermodal dispatching is essential for success in this position.

Location: Carson, CA (onsite)

Compensation: $70,000-75,000 + benefits

Hours: Mon - Friday 3pm - 1am

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently manage drayage operations, executing import/export work orders with precision and timeliness.
• Perform accurate data entry, confirming all details related to port, rail, and customer work orders.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and supporting order maintenance processes.
• Provide essential clerical support and monitor customer data to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain open communication with customers and team members to ensure clarity and accuracy in reporting and billing.
• Dispatch drivers daily, auditing their run sheets to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Inform customers about freight and port availability, capacity, and other critical updates.
• Plan driver schedules to ensure on-time, safe freight delivery.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring all operations comply with safety and quality standards.
• Manage container emails and verify port availability effectively.
• Coordinate and manage the flow and execution of asset utilization to optimize operations.

Candidate Qualifications

• 1-2 years of dispatching experience, preferably in intermodal dispatch (port drayage and edray).
• Previous experience working with port drivers or within the maritime industry is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated reliability and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize workload effectively, focusing on delivering outstanding service.
