Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to handle power construction vehicles, excavate, move and grade material on road projects. You will operate diverse machinery, perform routine maintenance, and work safely around active sites.

The role requires ability to read instructions, follow directions, and train others in safe operation; willingness to work long hours, weekends, and varying weather conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Basic working knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights‑of‑way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of equipment and job techniques.
