Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced operator to operate a variety of heavy machinery for road and rights-of-way maintenance. The role involves loading, hauling, grading, trenching, and culvert installation, with emphasis on safety and equipment upkeep.

Responsibilities include training others, inspecting equipment, and ensuring adherence to project rules. Candidates should meet physical requirements and be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as workload demands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience in the field or related area.
• Working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate various vehicles and large heavy equipment to maintain and repair roads and rights-of-way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes; manage debris and silt.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation and techniques as needed.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects.
