New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM is seeking an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Student Assistant to support library resource sharing. You will assist with processing, delivery, and tracking of materials borrowed from and lent to other libraries, ensuring timely access for patrons with confidentiality and accuracy.

This part-time, on-site role requires good interpersonal skills, basic computer proficiency, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Current NMHU students in good standing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan materials.
• Retrieve, sort, and deliver library materials as requested.
• Scan articles and book chapters in accordance with copyright guidelines.
• Assist with packaging and shipping materials to partner libraries.
• Update and maintain records in interlibrary loan management systems.
• Monitor requests and report issues or delays to library staff.
• Communicate professionally with library patrons regarding request status and material availability.
• Maintain organized workspaces and storage areas.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Push library carts.
• Perform repetitive tasks such as scanning, shelving, and data entry.
• Assist with special projects and other library duties as assigned.
