Tessera seeks a reliable Interior Electrician Lead to support electrical operations at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The role leads inspection, diagnosis, and maintenance of lighting, power distribution, and control systems while mentoring field electricians to ensure safety and code compliance.

Requirements include a minimum of 5 years in commercial/industrial electrical systems and a Colorado Journeyman license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Valid Colorado Journeyman Electrician License in good standing.
• Experience on federal or military installations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NEC standards and electrical diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Lead inspection, testing, and diagnosis of electrical systems including lighting, motors, generators, UPS, controls, and intercommunication systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to field electricians and maintenance staff.
• Plan and lay out electrical work using diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lighting systems and fixtures.
• Install and repair outlets, switches, circuit breakers, sensors, and GFCIs.
• Operate lift equipment to service elevated electrical systems.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and costs; support lockout/tagout procedures.
• Handle on-call/standby duties as required.

The Interior Electrician Lead provides expert-level electrical support and field leadership for facility operations at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). This position ensures the safe, efficient, and code-compliant installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, while also guiding and mentoring team members through hands-on technical instruction. The Interior Electrician Lead plays a critical role in planning and executing electrical work, promoting safety and quality standards, and maintaining operational readiness across lighting, power distribution, and control systems in a secure, mission-driven environment .Typical duties include but are not limited to:Lead and perform inspection, testing, and diagnosis of electrical systems including lighting, motors, generators, UPS, controls, and intercommunication systemsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to electricians and maintenance staff in the fieldSupport training efforts by demonstrating proper techniques, reviewing work quality, and reinforcing safety and code compliancePlan and lay out electrical work using diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manualsPerform routine maintenance and repairs on lighting systems, including lamp and ballast replacement, fixture cleaning, and re-lampingVerify time/labor via Maximo, purchase materials, etc.Install and repair outlets, switches, circuit breakers, sensors, and ground fault interruptersOperate lift equipment to service elevated electrical systemsMaintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and associated costsEnsure proper wire identification and connection during installations and repairsWear appropriate PPE and follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and arc flash protocolPerform general maintenance tasks and support other trades as assignedWork from ladders, man lifts, and in confined spaces or adverse weather conditionMaintain professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communicationPerform lockout/tagout as requiredPerform on-call /standby work as neededQualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical systemsValid Colorado Journeyman Electrician License in good standingAdvanced understanding of NEC standards, electrical diagnostics, and system troubleshootingExperience working on federal or military installations preferredAbility to lead by example and support team development through field-based mentoringPhysical Requirements:Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.
