Job summary

Empire Homes is seeking an Interior Designer at our Chattanooga, TN Design Center to guide homeowners through finish selections and create compelling design journeys.

You will support design documentation, collaborate with trade partners, and help evolve model homes, ensuring your updates reflect current trends and client needs. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service and professional presentation skills.

Qualifications

• AAS in Interior Design, BFA in Interior Design, or BS in Interior Architecture & Design required or strongly preferred
• 3-5 years in Interior Design experience
• Self-starter capable of taking buyer appointments after training
• Ability to work independently or with a team
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Personable, friendly, and professional with strong customer service
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of Empire’s design offerings and upgrade options per community
• Guide home buyers through design selections to help them make informed decisions
• Manage design documentation for assigned homes, markets, and model homes
• Assist trade partners to ensure timely procurement of materials and finishes
• Support sales and construction on design-related needs
• Develop exterior color schemes for upcoming communities is aligned with branding
• Assist in future model home vision, including furniture, art, and accessories procurement/installation
• Collaborate with internal teams to keep design center offerings up-to-date with trends and customer preferences
• Maintain day-to-day operations of the Design Center including opening/closing, displays, cleanliness, and refreshments restocking

This role is located at our Empire Homes office in Chattanooga, TN.

What We Are Looking For

• AAS in Interior Design, BFA in Interior Design, or BS in Interior Architecture & Design
• 3-5 years in Interior Design
• Self-starter who is confident to take buyer appointments immediately once systems trained
• Ability to work independently on projects or collaborate with a team
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentations skills with the ability to retain and articulate information
• Must be personable, friendly, and professional
• Excellent customer service skills
• Microsoft Office Computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Bonus If You Have These Skills

• Proven experience in interior design with experience in residential new construction a plus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Ability to read floor plans

What You’ll Be Doing Each Day

• Develop a deep understanding of Empire’s design offerings, including standard features and upgrade possibilities available per community.
• Guide home buyers through the design selections process to assist them in making informed decisions regarding finishes, materials, and other personalization options.
• Manage design documentation for all assigned home buyers, market homes, and model homes.
• Assist trade partners, as needed, to ensure timely procurement of materials and finishes.
• Assist sales and construction, as needed, on any design-related needs.
• Develop exterior schemes/coloration for upcoming communities that align with the overall community vision and branding.
• Vision development for future model homes including the specification, procurement, and installation of all furniture, art and accessories.
• Work alongside internal teams to regularly update design center offerings to reflect new trends, customer preferences, and market demands.
• Assist the team in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the Design Center, which includes opening and closing the Design Center, engaging with customers, maintaining the visual displays, cleanliness of the Design Center, and re‑stocking refreshments, when needed.
