Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an Interior Designer with a design or technical focus to join a multi-disciplinary team in Buffalo, NY. You will collaborate with design and technical leadership and contribute to project teams from programming through construction administration, under project leadership.

You will assist in design development, prepare drawings, support FFE selection, ensure code compliance, and participate in client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field.
• Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
• Must be able to participate in the development of projects\' technical or design characteristics.
• Strong creative design portfolio and strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with project goals across all phases (Programming to Construction Administration).
• Assist in development of design including planning and 3D studies.
• Independently assist in design development and documentation of interior spaces (floor plans, RC planes, elevations, details).
• Support Senior Interior Designer with FFE selection, layout, and specifications.
• Produce drawings conforming to time, cost, and quality constraints.
• Identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to interior design work.
• Prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
• Follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
• Participate in client meetings to gain interaction and presentation experience.
• Participate in construction administration activities (site visits, submittals, shop drawings, punch lists).
• Mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance on project documents.
• Promote design quality and proper material applications.
• May perform other duties as required.
