Job summary

Brigham Young University is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to provide design and planning services for improvements to BYU facilities. The role may also act as Owner’s Representative on select projects, coordinating with outside architects and design consultants.

The position combines creative design, project coordination, and client collaboration, requiring strong communication and cost-management skills. The team works across campus on renovations and new construction projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design with 4 years of experience or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience.
• Working knowledge of construction documents and finishes.
• Familiarity with finishes and their appropriate applications.
• Knowledge of systems furniture specifications and other furnishings.

Responsibilities

• Keep up to date on building codes and ensure conformance.
• Plan and prepare drawings and specifications for shop and contract projects.
• Develop and manage project budgets and ensure efficient space use.
• Serve as Owner’s Representative on new construction or major renovations when needed.
• Visit projects regularly to ensure compliance with plans and requirements.
• Assist in problem-solving during construction and during installations.
