Qualifications

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Barbuda Ocean Club.

Discovery Creative is looking for Interior Design Manager to support our project in Barbuda, West Indies. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

This is a REMOTE position with monthly travel. Candidate should be based in Floriday or Antigua.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the development team to enforce the overall vision, program, and design direction forDLC Project.
  • Work with consultants to manage the Design and oversee the production of the architectural and engineering drawings of different developer product types as well as several development amenities.
  • Meet with possible prospects and sales team to review developer product and discuss design options when selecting a home.
  • Schedule, conduct and manage customer meetings to review selections for each home, take design notes and provide to consultants and design team to incorporate the selections into the construction documents.
  • Create and manage selections book for each home and work with development/ construction team to insure proper hand off for construction.
  • Meet with vendors to provide specifications and design information for products used in our development product.
  • Meet, attend, and lead meetings with consultants, contractors, and clients. Must prepare agenda for any meeting, which they lead. Provide notes and minutes after all meetings or delegate to assistant.
  • Manage and mentor design assistant(s), provide guidance and direction for completing tasks, meetings, reports, or any collateral required.
  • Coordinate with operations team on programming of areas, by providing design input, or working with FF&E consultants/ vendors, and working with construction team to execute the design and overall look for the club.
  • Coordinate with client’s consultants and vendors in the execution of their home. Work with construction team to make sure they have the latest information.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or Interior Design preferred.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in architectural planning and design on luxury level projects, in addition to horizontal development project type experience.
  • Experience in resourcing, selecting, and managing consultant teams for the design and construction of high-end residential and golf club amenity-related building projects.
  • Depth of understanding operations, both front, and back of the house, specifically concerning the design, planning, programming of new construction.
  • Computer skills must include the following programs: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Specialized software process and functional familiarity may consist of AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and BIM-Revit.
  • Registered, as an Architect is not required, non-active registration is acceptable in the event one does have a license.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and make recommendations regarding designs, plans, geotechnical studies, and specifications.
  • Create, distribute, and manage RFPs to designers and contractors for initial selections of design team and contractor.
  • Intimate knowledge of construction means and methods to properly design, value engineer, and manage the construction process.
  • Able to establish and manage departmental and project schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to supervise and plan the work of technical and professional subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and carry out complex oral and written instructions, including the reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consultants.
  • Considerable knowledge of the modern principles, processes, and practices of architecture, engineering, and interior design.
  • Reference applicable codes and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
