Job description

Overview

Manage, measure, and monitor the EWP design capacities needed to support the sales and production needs of an 84 Lumber EWP program. Provide the systems, processes, and personnel required to ensure that designs are accurate and efficient. Designs should meet or exceed all 84 Lumber EWP design standards, builder specifications, and design turnaround expectations.

Responsibilities

  1. Communicate with sales, management, and production personnel on the status of design schedule commitments.
  2. Manage equipment, systems, and processes needed to facilitate EWP design and production.
  3. Assess and manage the training and development of new and existing design associates. Provide regular design reviews.
  4. Develop and manage a system that measures the productivity of every designer.
  5. Consult with senior EWP management regarding the evolving production expectations for designers across different experience levels.
  6. Manage version control of design software.
  7. Handle miscellaneous projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in word processing software.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software.
  • Experience with manufacturing, design, optimization, and automated saw software(s).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, and government regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
