Interim Director, Talent Acquisition Location: Plano, TX Employment Type: Contract | Interim Work Arrangement: Hybrid | 4 Days Onsite, 1 Day Remote Onsite Requirements: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Required | Fourth Onsite Day Flexible Pay Rate: $50.00–$75.00 per hour

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Interim Director, Talent Acquisition for a contract opportunity in Plano, TX. This leadership position is responsible for developing and executing talent acquisition strategies, overseeing field recruitment operations, and driving measurable improvements in hiring performance. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of recruiting experience, including 5+ years leading recruitment teams, with a strong background in talent acquisition operations, ATS optimization, recruitment analytics, and workforce planning. Healthcare recruiting experience is preferred. This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader who can optimize recruiting processes, develop high-performing teams, and partner with executive leadership to achieve organizational hiring goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies aligned with organizational objectives and field recruitment needs.
• Lead, mentor, and manage field recruitment teams to improve hiring performance, productivity, and accountability.
• Establish recruiting KPIs and performance metrics to track time-to-fill, hiring results, and recruiter effectiveness.
• Oversee full-cycle recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, offer negotiation, and onboarding coordination.
• Optimize Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), recruitment tools, job boards, and reporting processes.
• Develop scalable recruiting workflows, standardized procedures, and process improvements.
• Analyze recruitment data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
• Create and present recruitment performance reports, dashboards, and workforce planning insights.
• Partner with hiring managers and business leaders to forecast staffing needs and resolve recruitment challenges.
• Develop recruiter onboarding, training, coaching, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with marketing and leadership to strengthen employer branding and candidate engagement.
• Improve candidate experience, recruitment efficiency, and overall hiring outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and internal recruiting policies.
• Support strategic talent acquisition projects and additional leadership initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional recruiting or talent acquisition experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading, developing, and managing recruitment teams.
• Proven success driving recruiting results in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Strong experience with ATS administration, optimization, reporting, and recruitment technology.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience developing recruiting KPIs, dashboards, and performance reports.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle recruitment, workforce planning, and talent acquisition best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage recruiter performance, implement training programs, and drive accountability.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence hiring managers and executive leadership.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on recruitment operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Previous talent acquisition leadership experience within the healthcare industry.
• Experience overseeing field recruitment operations across multiple locations.
• Background in ATS implementation, optimization, workflow automation, or system improvement projects.
• Experience developing recruitment dashboards and executive-level reporting.
• Demonstrated success scaling recruiting operations and improving hiring efficiency.
