Durham Academy in Durham, NC is seeking an interim full-time Lower School teaching assistant for grade 1 to start November 2, 2026. The role supports a lead teacher in a class of about 18–19 students, with a collaborative, student-centered approach.
Responsibilities include setting learning goals, preparing instructional materials, guiding children in small groups or individually, supervising lunch/recess, and assisting with whole-group instruction as needed.

Our Lower School classrooms in grade 1 have 18-19 students with a lead classroom teacher and a teaching assistant who are both full-time.
