Job summary

Mulberry Talent Partners is seeking an interim HR Generalist to support an independent private school in Portland, onsite, Monday–Friday, through the end of January. The role focuses on leaves, accommodations, and workers' compensation while ensuring strong employee relations and onboarding support for a workforce of 200 full-time and 150 seasonal staff.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of HR experience, including working as an HR Department of One, and familiarity with HRIS systems such as

• 5+ years HR experience including working as an HR Department of One.
• Leaves, accommodations, and workers' compensation claims experience (3+ years).
• Bachelor’s degree in HR preferred or HR certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage leaves of absence, accommodations, and workers' compensation claims.
• Oversee investigations and employee relations under leadership guidance.
• Update HR compliance documentation and process workflows.
• Respond to HR inquiries with benefits guidance and best practices.
• Provide backup support: postings, screening, interviewing, onboarding, orientations.
• Support HR team and school employees as needed.

Job description

What you should know:

Mulberry is the proud partner of one of Portland’s most respected independent private schools. They are seeking an interim HR Generalist working onsite, Monday – Friday through end of January. This is a great opportunity to help a dedicated team who is doing good work to support a population of 200 full-time and 150 seasonal employees. They are looking to have someone start as soon as possible!

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage current and new leaves of absence, accommodations, and workers compensation claims.
• Oversee investigations and employee relations under guidance of leadership
• Update organization’s HR compliance related documentation and process workflows
• Help monitor HR team inbox responding to inquiries including benefits related questions, researching solutions and prior best practices providing overall HR customer service
• Provide back up support as needed including posting opportunities, general screening and scheduling interviews with hiring managers, onboarding and new employee orientations
• Be willing to support the HR team and employees of the school with any needs as requested

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred, or HR Certification
• 5+ years of HR experience including working as an HR Department of One
• 3+ years of experience with leaves, accommodations, and workers compensation claims
• Ideal candidates will have experience in education or related field
• Display credibility, trustworthy and kind attributes
• Experience with HRIS systems, Rippling preferred and recruiting platforms

Compensation and Benefits
