Job summary

Sage Hospitality Group seeks a Bench Director of Finance to provide interim, hands-on leadership of the hotel finance department when the Director of Finance is absent or a vacancy exists.

The role focuses on safeguarding financial operations, partnering with General Manager and leaders to protect profitability, and developing assigned associates. Travel to assigned hotels may be required.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree preferred; equivalent education and experience considered.
• Advanced knowledge of hotel accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, payroll, AP/AR, cash controls, reconciliations, and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day hotel finance operations during assignments with focus on accuracy, controls, and timely decision support.
• Supervise 1–7 finance associates, coach and develop staff, and address performance concerns.
• Assess department condition at start of assignment including staffing, month-end status, cash controls, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations.
• Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and cash reporting.
• Identify financial and operational risks and provide recommendations to GM and leaders.
• Maintain internal controls and purchasing approvals to protect hotel assets.
• Partner with department heads to manage expenditures, payroll, and forecasted operating costs.
• Review sales activity, group business, rate strategy, and profitability as needed.
