We are partnering with a growing manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide leadership and oversight of the accounting and finance function during a critical transition period. This hands‑on role will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting operational leadership, and driving process improvements.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing accounting, inventory and cost accounting, financial reporting, and team leadership. This position requires an individual who can quickly assess current processes, implement best practices, and serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
- Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage inventory accounting, standard costing, cost analysis, and manufacturing‑related financial reporting
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy
- Monitor internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Partner with operations leadership to analyze manufacturing costs, margins, inventory levels, and production performance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities
- Coordinate audit support requests and assist with compliance requirements
- Lead, mentor, and support accounting staff during the interim engagement
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy
- Assist executive leadership with special projects, business analysis, and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Leadership experience required
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment
