Job summary

John F. Kennedy Middle School in Waltham, Massachusetts seeks an LTS Assistant Principal to serve as acting principal in their absence and to assist in curriculum, instruction and school-wide management.

A valid MA admin cert is required and leadership experience in a middle school setting is preferred. The candidate will help ensure educational and developmental needs are met for students and staff, support the School Improvement Plan, and contribute to a positive school culture and discipline

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or content area from an accredited college.
• Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal licensure (DESE Cert. # 1021 or 1023).
• Experience in middle school administration (Gr. 6–8).
• Minimum five years in public education including admin and teaching.
• Knowledge of another language may be required by demographics.

Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and act in their absence; provide school-wide management.
• Support curriculum and instruction to meet student and staff needs.
• Foster a climate that promotes learning and achievement.
• Provide staff leadership, development and training.
• Manage student disciplinary procedures with due process.
• Develop positive school community relations.
• Assist in supervision and evaluation of staff.
• Assist with scheduling and supervision of students in non-classroom areas.
