Job summary

Swampscott Public Schools is seeking an Interim Assistant Principal for Swampscott Middle School to cover a leave of absence from January 2027 through June 2027. The role reports to the Building Principal and emphasizes maintaining a positive, safe learning environment while supporting students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities include instructional leadership, scheduling, policy implementation, budget collaboration, and ensuring compliance with district initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with concentration in Administration, Supervision, and/or Curriculum.
• Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal licensure required, SEI or additional licensure preferred.
• At least five years of teaching or related leadership experience.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa in the United States required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and assessment of instructional programs for all students.
• Lead scheduling, district goals, materials selection, and data analysis to improve instruction.
• Evaluate educators under the Massachusetts Evaluation System.
• Support the principal in budget development and management.
• Serve as 504 and RTI facilitator and coordinate interventions.
• Act in principal's capacity during their absence.
