Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to provide operational accounting leadership during a busy close and audit period.

The role is on-site four days per week in the San Francisco East Bay, with an anticipated duration of 3 to 4 months. Responsibilities include month-end close, GL management, and assisting with audits under US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of general ledger and operational accounting experience with month-end and year-end close responsibilities.
• Prior audit support experience with reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Hands-on accounting leadership experience with the ability to review work and guide staff.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and account analysis.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounting and respond to day-to-day accounting requests.
• Review accounting for revenue, receivables, operating expenses, cash, and other balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and schedules per U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare audit documentation and schedules for external auditor review.
• Coordinate with accounting team to complete audit walkthroughs and address findings.
• Provide guidance and review support to staff and prioritize close/audit deliverables.
• Assist with specialized accounting areas and other projects as needed.

Our client, a higher education organization, is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to provide additional operational accounting leadership during a busy close and audit period.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Manage general ledger accounting and respond to day-to-day operational accounting requests
• Review accounting for revenue, receivables, operating expenses, cash, and other assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Support the preparation of financial statements and related schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Prepare audit documentation, supporting schedules, and account analyses for external auditor review
• Coordinate with accounting team members to complete audit walkthroughs, respond to requests, and address findings
• Provide guidance and review support to accounting staff while helping prioritize close and audit deliverables
• Assist with specialized accounting areas and other projects as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of general ledger and operational accounting experience, including significant month-end and year-end close responsibility
• Prior audit support experience, including preparation of reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Hands-on accounting leadership experience with the ability to review work and support other team members
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and account analysis, with the ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines
