Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations during a leadership transition. This on-site engagement is located on the San Francisco Peninsula and is expected to last 2-3 months, with a potential to extend or convert.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in leadership roles
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations
• Experience with fixed assets, capital projects, CIP accounting
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis; hands-on in a high-volume environment

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations: GL, AP, AR, cash management, high-volume processing
• Lead monthly close and prepare financial reporting packages, reconciliations, variance analyses
• Manage accruals and capitalization of operating expenses and CAPEX
• Oversee fixed assets, depreciation, CIP schedules, and capital projects
• Coordinate annual audit, tax, and compliance with external providers
• Prepare financial forecasts and analyze budgets and business performance
• Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, automation, and reporting workflows
• Mentor accounting team members and partner with operations on accounting matters
