Job summary

Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, now IM Houston, is seeking an Interfaith Relations Coordinator on the Advancement Team. You will support project management, event planning, research, and communications, based at the main campus, and represent IM at faith-related events across Greater Houston.

The role requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong relationship management, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 1–3 years of project management, event planning, communications, and administrative support.
  • Knowledge of the Harris County community and Houston area preferred.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in WordPress and Canva preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s license and auto liability insurance as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with diverse faith communities across the Greater Houston area.
  • Serve as a liaison between IM Houston and congregations, religious leaders, and interfaith partners.
  • Identify opportunities to expand IM’s network of faith-based partners.
  • Manage Interfaith Network webpage and create communications.
  • Coordinate interfaith programs, events, and dialogues that promote understanding and collaboration.
  • Support planning and execution of signature initiatives.
  • Assist in recruiting and managing volunteers from faith communities.
  • Represent IM Houston at community events, meetings, and partner gatherings.
  • Promote awareness of IM programs and opportunities for engagement.
  • Collaborate with program teams to integrate interfaith engagement into service initiatives.
  • Support cross-departmental efforts involving volunteerism and outreach.
  • Assist with logistical planning for interfaith events (venue, scheduling, etc.).
  • Track participation, partnerships, and engagement outcomes; prepare dashboards.

About the Role

The Interfaith Relations Coordinator serves as a key staff member on the Advancement Team, supporting the Interfaith Relations Officer in project management, program event planning, research, and communications.

Based at IM Houston’s main campus, this role will support Interfaith Relations projects and events, represent IM at faith-related events throughout Greater Houston, manage interfaith contact lists, draft interfaith messaging, and other duties as assigned.

Success in this role requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong relationship management, excellent organizational and time management skills, and flexibility for periodic evening and weekend engagement to support fundraising and community activities.

Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building & Engagement
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with diverse faith communities across the Greater Houston area.
  • Serve as a liaison between IM Houston and congregations, religious leaders, and interfaith partners.
  • Identify opportunities to expand IM’s network of faith-based partners.
  • Manage Interfaith Network webpage.
  • Create communications for Interfaith Network.
Program Coordination & Support
  • Coordinate interfaith programs, events, and dialogues that promote understanding, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  • Support planning and execution of signature initiatives
  • Assist in recruiting and managing volunteers from faith communities.
Community Outreach
  • Conduct outreach to underrepresented or emerging faith communities to ensure inclusive participation.
  • Represent IM Houston at community events, meetings, and partner gatherings.
  • Promote awareness of IM programs and opportunities for engagement.
Communications & Content Development
  • Help to develop and distribute communications targeted to interfaith audiences, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications staff.
  • Share stories that highlight interfaith collaboration and community impact.
  • Maintain accurate contact lists for faith partners and stakeholders.
Collaboration & Internal Coordination
  • Work closely with program teams to integrate interfaith engagement into IM’s service initiatives.
  • Support cross-departmental efforts that involve volunteerism, community partnerships, and outreach.
Event Planning & Logistics
  • Assist with logistical planning for interfaith events, including venue coordination, scheduling, and participant engagement- in collaboration with the Advancement Team.
Data Tracking & Reporting
  • Track participation, partnerships, and engagement outcomes related to interfaith initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly dashboards to evaluate program impact and inform strategy.
Performance Metrics
  • Number of active faith partners engaged
  • Number of one-on-one contacts with faith leaders
  • Number of interfaith programs/events supported
  • Number of outreach activities conducted (presentations, visits, tabling, etc.)
  • Conversion rate: outreach contacts → active participants or partners
  • Number of new faith organizations engaged
  • Growth in interfaith contact list
  • Number of internal projects supported involving interfaith engagement
  • Timeliness and responsiveness to internal team requests (e.g., % completed within deadlines)
  • Feedback from internal teams on effectiveness of collaboration
  • Accuracy and timeliness of dashboards
  • Completeness of data captured (participation, demographics, engagement levels)
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 1-3 years minimum of project management required, including event planning, communications, research, and administrative support.
  • Knowledge of the Harris County community and Houston area preferred.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in WordPress and Canva preferred.

  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Able to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, both in assisting and calling on team members, as necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, balancing multiple priorities, often under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends, often with little notice.
  • Valid Driver’s license and auto liability insurance as required by law.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and to work over 40 hours/week.
