seeking a hands-on FHIR / HL7 developer to design, build, test, and support healthcare interfaces. The developer will translate business and operational requirements into technical specifications, evaluate integration options, and troubleshoot healthcare data exchange issues.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and support healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Map, transform, and validate healthcare data across systems.
• Diagnose interface failures, resolve data exchange issues, and document error-handling procedures.
• Work with business and technical teams to define input and output requirements, assess system limitations, and document proposed changes.

Required experience

• 8+ years designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, JSON, and XML, including data mapping, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and error handling.

Preferred experience

• 5+ Secure healthcare portals or portal-integrated services, including API integration, authentication, authorization, role-based access control, secure coding, testing, and production support
• 3+ Strongly preferred — FHIR implementations using US Core profiles, Electronic Case Reporting implementation guides, and other HL7 implementation guides
• 3+ Strongly preferred — Implementing or integrating FHIR servers, FHIR APIs, and related interoperability solutions
• 3+ Mapping, transforming, and validating data across HL7 v2, FHIR, and analytical data models
• 3+ Healthcare terminology standards, including SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CVX, and RxNorm
• 3+ FHIR on AWS or a comparable cloud platform, including integration with ingestion pipelines, storage, analytics, and enterprise data platforms
• 3+ Git, automated builds, CI/CD, unit and integration testing, code reviews, defect tracking, logging, monitoring, and documentation
• 1+ AWS HealthLake, Snowflake, electronic initial case reporting (eICR), public health reporting, disease surveillance, and React, FastAPI, or Terraform
