Job summary

The Penn Hills School District in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh seeks a Paraprofessional for an Intensive AS K-2 classroom. Clearances (Act 151, Act 34, Act 114) and a negative TB test are required before starting work.

The role reports to the Director of Special Education and Building Principals and supports students with special needs under certified supervision. Qualifications include an Associate degree or 60 credits, PA Credential of Competency for Special Paraeducator, and 1–2 years of

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60 credits or TABE with Credential of Competency for Special Paraeducator in PA.
• 1-2 years of experience with children with special needs preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work as part of an educational team.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to and from bus at arrival/departure times.
• Provide personal care assistance as needed for daily living activities.
• Prepare and operate instructional materials and equipment per teacher/therapist directions.
• Maintain attendance records and protect student confidentiality.
• Assist with feeding for students unable to feed themselves.
• Support use of assistive technology and instructional devices.
• Attend IEP and parent/teacher conferences as required.
• Follow IEPs and behavioral plans under supervision.
