Job summary

Orange County School District seeks a dedicated paraeducator to support students with severe disabilities under supervision of certified staff. You will help with instructional activities, daily living skills, and behavioral supports to foster student development.

The role involves assisting with transportation transitions, classroom routines, and data collection for progress reporting and IEPs. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and complete ESE training within 45 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years working with exceptional needs school-age children in an educational setting.
• Must complete ESE Training within 45 days of hire.
• Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work; stress management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional, behavioral and developmental assistance to students with severe disabilities as directed by supervising staff.
• Assist with positive behavioral supports and problem solving skills.
• Assist with crisis intervention and safety procedures for students needing physical restraint.
• Escort and provide one-on-one assistance during meals, transitions, and activities throughout the day.
• Support in completing lesson plans, data collection for progress monitoring, and IEP-related reporting.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology used in the classroom and assist as needed.
