Job summary

Orange County Public Schools seeks a dedicated paraprofessional to support students with severe disabilities. Under supervision, you will assist in instruction, behavior management, and daily living activities, working closely with a certified teacher and other staff.

You will help with meal-time routines, transitions, gross and fine motor tasks, and data collection for progress monitoring and IEPs, while ensuring safety and supportive learning environments.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree or higher, or 60+ semester hours; paraprofessional cert may substitute.
• Two (2) years experience with exceptional needs school-age children in a educational setting.
• Ability to fulfill dexterity and physical requirements and attend to needs of school-age children.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with severe disabilities under supervision of certified staff.
• Provide instructional, behavioral and developmental support and reinforce positive behavior.
• Assist with crisis intervention and behavior monitoring as directed.
• Escort students during meals, transit, and activities; help with transfers when needed.
• Help develop and follow lesson plans and data collection for progress monitoring and IEPs.
