Job summary

Poudre School District is seeking a Paraprofessional Integrated Services II to support students with significant needs at Shepardson Elementary School in Fort Collins. The role offers 6.5-hour days and requires collaboration with teachers to implement instructional strategies and behavioral supports.

You will assist with personal care, mobility, and communication, following health plans and IEP goals. A strong teamwork ethic and commitment to safety are essential in this on-site position at PSD.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs encouraged.
• Two years of higher education or an associate’s degree recommended.
• WorkKeys assessment demonstrates instructional competency within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by implementing instruction and adapting materials for students with significant support needs.
• De-escalate crises and support emotional regulation; respond to escalations to ensure safety.
• Monitor students across classrooms, hallways, and during transitions; enforce safety procedures.
• Provide hygiene, feeding, mobility, and personal care support per care plans; collaborate with nursing staff.
• Use assistive technology and AAC devices to support communication.
• Maintain detailed records of behavior and progress; assist with data entry and IEP documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers, mental health staff, and case managers on IEP goals and crisis plans.
• Promote self-regulation and daily living skills; support student independence.
• Attend training (CPI, behavior management, etc.) and participate in meetings to enhance job skills.
• Adapt quickly to student needs and work across settings including general education and community instruction.
