Job summary

Spira Care is seeking a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) to integrate behavioral health services into primary care and collaborate with medical providers to support whole-person care. The BHC helps promote health, functioning, and patient self-management.

The BHC delivers brief, evidence-based interventions as part of a team, treats patients from birth to death, and works to improve outcomes and reduce stigma. Light travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, family and marriage therapy or professional counseling.
• Respective licensure including LSCSW/LCSW, LCMFT (KS)/LMFT (MO), or LCPC(KS)/LPC(MO) in both Kansas and Missouri.
• 5 years' experience working as a Behavioral Health Consultant or as an independently licensed clinician across lifespan.
• General knowledge of common conditions treated in primary care; disease management and lifestyle changes.
• Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and EMR system.
• Occasional local travel.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of biological, cognitive, affective, and psychosocial components of health and illness, including mental health and substance use.
• Demonstrate ability to connect with a socially/culturally diverse patient population.
• Assist in identifying at-risk patients and prevent relapse or morbidity.
• Provide brief behavioral and cognitive, evidence-based interventions and follow-up visits.
• Promote the BHC role and services to medical patients.
• Collaborate with the care team to develop common treatment plans and coordinate care.
