Job summary

VNS Health is seeking an Intake Support Specialist to determine customer needs and provide accurate, responsive intake across referrals and platforms. You will transcribe patient information, verify insurance, and coordinate with Revenue Cycle to secure home care authorization, ensuring smooth care transitions and high patient satisfaction.

The role requires strong communication, data entry accuracy, and teamwork in a dynamic health system.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalency; Associate's Degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of customer service in healthcare preferred.
• Able to learn medical terminology quickly.
• Experience entering data and using mainframe or similar systems.
• Able to adapt to change and work in a team.
• Strong customer service and rapport-building skills.
• Knowledge of managed care, Medicare/Medicaid and insurance authorization helpful.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve non-clinical issues and complaints timely.
• Route inbound faxes to referral channels and systems.
• Respond to referrals via electronic platforms, phone, and fax.
• Transcribe patient information into the referral system and attach documents.
• Verify insurance information and coordinate with Revenue Cycle for authorization.
• Facilitate patient information handoffs for safe discharge.
• Follow up to obtain missing referral information.
