Job summary

Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington is seeking an A&R (Intake) Mental Health Technician to support patients through the admission process, ensuring safety, comfort, and compliance with hospital procedures.

The role involves observing, documenting patient behavior, and assisting with daily living activities in a 12-hour overnight shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays, in Arlington, TX.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Availability for 12-hour overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Physical ability to bend, lift, and assist with patient interventions as needed.
• Current BLS certification or obtain during orientation.
• De-escalation Training: HWC certification during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient admissions and intake procedures.
• Conduct patient and belongings searches for safety and contraband prevention.
• Inventory and document patient belongings upon admission.
• Observe, assess, and document patient behaviors and interactions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation throughout assigned shifts.
• Support patients with daily living activities and orientation to the unit.
• Model positive behaviors and teach life skills that promote healthy decision-making.
• Identify patients who may be at risk and implement appropriate monitoring procedures.
• Foster and maintain professional therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and physical intervention methods when necessary (training provided).
• Escort and supervise patients as required throughout the facility.
