Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking full-time Mental Health Techs to support adolescent and senior adult units in a psychiatric hospital setting. Responsibilities

• Participate in treatment planning by helping identify patients' problems, needs, and strengths; suggest modifications to treatment plan based on observations.
• Provide input during shift report and discharge planning.
• Assist in implementing patients' treatment plans by monitoring progress and communicating information to the treatment team.
• Maintain communication with patients, families, and referral sources.
• Co-facilitate didactic, educational, and community groups within the adolescent program.
• Supervise patients to ensure safety and involvement in treatment and during transport.
• Maintain the unit's therapeutic milieu and enforce behavior management methods.
• Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation.
• Orient new patients to unit, program, and milieu.
• Carry out nursing assistance as assigned by nurse in charge.
• Ensure a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as appropriate.
• Carry out clerical/administrative tasks to support patient care and department operations.

Job description

The position will work with children, adolescents and adults while admitting them into the hospital.

We are looking to hire full-time Mental Health Techs (MHT) to provide high quality care to patients on our Senior Adult and Adolescent units who are hospitalized with psychiatric/ emotional disorders. MHT's hired must support the hospital program philosophy of care, support and ensure a therapeutic milieu for all patients, communicate with nursing staff constantly and participate in the patient plan of care.

• Participate in treatment planning by helping identify patients' problems, needs, and strengths; suggesting modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients' behavior.
• Provides input during shift report and discharge planning.
• Participate in implementing patients' treatment plans by monitoring patients' progress, communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team.
• Maintains communication with patient, family members, and referral sources in patients' interest
• Co-facilitates didactic, educational, and community groups within the context of the adolescent treatment program encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities.
• Supervises patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment and during transport
• Participate in maintaining the therapeutic milieu on the unit, enforces the level system or other methods of behavior management.
• Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation.
• Orient new patients to unit, program and milieu.
• Carry out general nursing assistance as assigned and supervised by nurse in charge.
• Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
• Assists patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs, age, and developmental level.
• Carry out clerical/administrative assignment to support patient care and department and hospital operations.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. CPR, Handle with Care and Abuse & Neglect are required (training required and employer provided)
• Required Licenses: None
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting, phone triage, tele-health or case management or combination of education and experience. Experience in a free standing psychiatric hospital preferred.
