Job summary

Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington invites applications for a full-time A&R (Intake) Mental Health Technician to support admissions, ensure safety, and facilitate a compassionate intake experience for patients and families.

You will assist with daily living activities, document patient information, and help maintain a calm, therapeutic setting during the 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM overnight shift. Training on de-escalation and safety procedures is provided to new hires.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 12-hour overnight shifts including weekends/holidays.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Physical ability to bend, lift, stoop, walk, and assist with patient interventions.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain during new employee orientation.
• De-escalation Training: Handle with Care (HWC) certification during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient admissions and intake procedures
• Conduct patient and belongings searches for safety and contraband prevention
• Inventory and document patient belongings upon admission
• Observe, assess, and document patient behaviors and interactions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation throughout assigned shifts
• Support patients with daily living activities and orientation to the unit
• Model positive behaviors and teach life skills that promote healthy decision-making
• Identify patients who may be at risk and implement appropriate monitoring procedures
• Foster and maintain professional therapeutic relationships with patients
• Help maintain a safe, clean, structured, and therapeutic environment
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and physical intervention methods when necessary (training provided)
• Escort and supervise patients as required throughout the facility
