Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) in Westborough, MA, is seeking a part-time admissions clinician to assess patient needs and determine the appropriate level of care. You will link referrals to services, admit based on medical necessity, and complete initial insurance authorizations.

The role requires collaboration with families and physicians, handling DSM-supported diagnoses, and ensuring a compassionate admission process.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminologies and ability to analyze information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
• Experience with utilization management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete mental health assessment to determine medical necessity and level of care.
• Provide referrals and recommendations for patients not meeting medical necessity for inpatient hospitalization.
• Complete initial insurance authorizations for newly admitted patients.
• Provide provisional DSM diagnoses with clinical documentation.
• Meet with patients and families to explain patient rights and discuss informed consent to treat.
• Support department customer service philosophy and maintain relationships with physicians and referral sources.
• Uphold organizational ethics and customer service standards.
