Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) is seeking a part-time Admissions/Care Coordinator to assess needs, determine medical necessity, and refer to appropriate resources. Responsibilities include completing insurance authorizations and engaging with patients and families to explain rights, consent, and care options.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and 2 years of experience preferred, with strong communication, confidentiality, and problem-solving

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Skills in analyzing and evaluating information.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Legible handwriting and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to confidentially maintain information.
• Persuasive skills with patients and family members.

Responsibilities

• Complete mental health assessment to determine medical necessity and level of care.
• Provide referrals and recommendations for inpatient hospitalization if needed.
• Complete initial insurance authorizations for newly admitted patients.
• Provide provisional DSM diagnoses with clinical documentation.
• Meet with patients and families to review handbook, rights and consent to treat.
• Assist patients with consent forms and required documents.
• Support the department's customer service philosophy.
• Establish and maintain relationships with physicians and referral sources.
• Perform related duties as requested.
• Uphold ethics and customer service standards.
