Job summary

Carolina Dunes Behavioral Health is seeking an Intake Coordinator to serve as the entry point for in-patient admissions. The role includes screening, scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-registration, ensuring accurate data collection and smooth admissions.

The coordinator will communicate with referrals and families, coordinate with hospital staff, and provide crisis intervention when needed. This onsite position supports the Call Center and admissions workflow to maintain timely patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.
• Experience in healthcare admissions preferred, especially in mental health or substance use disorders.
• Strong telephone and interviewing skills; ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-admission screening and scheduling.
• Provides coverage for call center duties, answers phones, verifies insurance, and assists with pre-certifications.
• Works with business office, nursing, and clinical staff to ensure timely admissions.
• Maintains documentation and communicates status with referral sources.
• Provides information and referrals to internal and external customers.
• Assists with admissions folders, chart auditing, and patient monitoring in waiting areas.
