Job summary

Carolina Dunes Behavioral Health in North Carolina seeks an Intake Coordinator to manage patient intake, screenings, and admissions. You will verify insurance, coordinate with staff, and assist with pre-registration and referrals to ensure smooth admissions.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams. This PRN/part-time position supports the call center and on-site admissions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.
• At least 1 year in healthcare admissions; mental health experience preferred.
• Experience with patient assessment, referrals, and treatment coordination.
• Knowledge of community resources and external review processes.
• Strong interpersonal, interviewing, and assessment abilities.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and paging skills.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-admission screenings and schedule assessments.
• Provide coverage for call center duties during high volume.
• Coordinate with business office, nursing and clinical staff for admission.
• Verify insurance and assist with pre-certifications as needed.
• Communicate with referrals and families to smooth admissions.
• Maintain admissions documentation and folders.
