Job summary

Rising Ground is seeking a dedicated professional to support the JustUs program, a gender-responsive diversion initiative for youth. You will manage Bronx-based referrals, coordinate intake, and serve as the primary contact for participants as they engage with the project.

Responsibilities include outreach to local organizations, collaboration with staff, and meticulous record-keeping for funder reporting. A Bachelor’s degree and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with computer applications and agency systems (Connections).

About The Role

JustUs is an ACS-funded Gender Responsive Diversion Program facilitated by Rising Ground. This program is a holistic, gender-responsive program for girls, gender-nonconforming, and nonbinary youth (TGNBNC) youth who are involved, or at high risk of involvement, in the youth justice system. The project - which is grounded in the tenets of healing-centered, anti-oppressive practice - brings together highly skilled individual coaching; evidence-based clinical interventions; opportunities for young people to engage in group-based activities; economic empowerment skill building; and space where young people can come together to build community. All elements of the project are intentionally designed to support young people in cultivating their leadership skills; building their self-reliance; forging healthy social relationships; developing diverse strategies to avoid engaging in criminalized behavior/activities; and greatly enhancing their educational experiences and work opportunities.

What You’ll Do
  • Receive and manage all Bronx based program referrals
  • Actively and tenaciously reach out to referred young people to initiate their connection with the project
  • Facilitate the intake and assessment process with referred young people and serve as their primary point of contact throughout their engagement in the project
  • Engage in recruitment efforts throughout the city
  • Serve as the point person for the Teen Hub in your borough and ensure that hub is always staffed
  • Participate in outreach efforts to connect with local orgs, schools, and youth based programs to collect client referrals
  • Engage in collaboration and case coordination with all project staff and a vast network of stakeholders
  • Participate in weekly supervision, team meetings, group supervision, and attend other required meetings as required
  • Maintain program records, case files, and funder reports with accuracy and attention to timeliness detail
  • Other duties as required
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and knowledge of child welfare system
  • 1 year of experience (preferred)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Computer proficiency, knowledge of Connections

Position Type / Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in Brooklyn or Bronx. Work hours options are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, 10 am - 6 pm.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week
  • Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
