Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time Intake Coordinator to reach into the community and help maintain ARP occupancy. You will process intake of new beneficiaries, coordinate referrals, and support staff while upholding the program's standards and mission.

You will work under supervision, interacting with diverse populations, handling crises, and ensuring smooth intake operations. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with residency necessaries for overnight coverage.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience working with homeless population.
  • Knowledge of local community resources.
  • Ability to use BITS software program.
  • Computer literate in MS Office software.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Maintain a non-judgement attitude and professional approach with clients.
  • Handle crisis/emergency situations or services for the homeless and utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Assess at-risk participants and situations.
  • Support and supply the philosophy and religious goals of The Salvation ARP.
  • No evidence of existing chemical dependency.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; ability to acquire within 45 days.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-house residency required: 4 nights minimum per week.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Successful background clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure intake operations are developed with ARP standards.
  • Process intake of new beneficiaries, including issuing ID card.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with current and prospective referral sources to sustain referrals at 90% capacity.
  • Assist Resident Manager in dispensing initial clothing requisitions, canteen cards, etc.
  • Lead orientation for beneficiaries as needed.
  • Ensure initial meetings with mentor, work assignments, interview with chaplain take place.
  • Attend meetings as required (case conference, etc.).
  • Prepare statistical reports required by center policy and procedure.
  • Attend inter-agency meetings and conferences as needed and required.
  • Meet with agencies to develop a referral system.
  • Network with local colleges, universities, Native American Nations, Tribal Courts.
  • Assist Resident Manager for nighttime beneficiary supervision.
  • Act as a role model for beneficiaries – dress codes and behavior.
  • Other duties as assigned for efficient operation of the program.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

In coordination with the Resident Manager but under the direction of the Program Manager, the Intake Coordinator is responsible to reach out into the community to ensure the ARP maintains a good occupancy. As a team member in the Rehabilitation area, he/she promotes a climate for effective performance and learning through her/his attitudes, willingness to teach and learn, and availability to beneficiaries and staff.
