Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is seeking an Underwriting Support Specialist I to review and enter new and renewal submissions and assist underwriting staff with timely renewal preparation and policy issuance.

Responsibilities include entering account details, classifications, and exposure bases; reviewing loss experience; coordinating with Loss Control; and handling endorsement transactions per underwriter instructions. Strong data entry and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Two years office or clerical support experience in an insurance environment.
• Basic knowledge of insurance systems such as policy, billing and/or claims.
• Excellent verbal and written communications; accurate math and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and enter new and renewal business submissions.
• Enter account information including name, address, agency and effective date.
• Enter classifications and exposure base for rate submissions.
• Review past loss experience and identify large losses.
• File submissions in Duck system for Loss Control.
• Communicate submission status to underwriters.
• Handle endorsement transactions per underwriter instructions.
• Assist in data entry and policy issuance as needed.
