Job summary

MSIG USA, the US-based subsidiary of MS & AD Insurance Group, seeks an Assistant Manager – Financial Reporting to support accounting, insurance operations, and financial reporting. The role requires five to seven years of P&C insurance accounting experience and strong knowledge of NAIC statutory accounting principles and US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of accounting experience within the insurance industry, preferably in property and casualty.
• Experience applying US NAIC statutory accounting principles (yellow books) and US GAAP.
• Understanding of insurance operations and the flow of transactions from source systems to the general ledger and financial statements for direct, assumed, and ceded business.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and financial statement support.
• Prepare and review consolidation-related journal entries, including goodwill and intangible asset amortization, deferred salary allocations, and other corporate accounting adjustments.
• Monitor intercompany balances and eliminations across the insurance group and resolve out-of-balance conditions prior to close and consolidation.
• Calculate and record noncontrolling interest activity.
• Prepare standalone financial statements for holding companies, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and Statement of Shareholders’ Equity.
• Prepare and record manual journal entries for premiums, commissions, losses, IBNR, and reinsurance transactions within the general ledger.
• Assist with statutory financial statements, regulatory schedules, management reporting, and supporting documentation.
• Research accounting issues and help assess the impact of new statutory, U.S. GAAP, and, where applicable, IFRS guidance.
