Qualifications

• Active admission to the New York State Bar.
• 2+ years of experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, or related practice area.
• Familiarity with general liability, premises liability, auto liability, or related lines of coverage.
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Defend insurance carriers, policyholders, and corporate clients in civil litigation matters.
• Manage a caseload of insurance defense files from inception through resolution, including trial.
• Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Conduct depositions, examinations before trial (EBTs), and witness interviews.
• Perform legal research and provide strategic case assessments and coverage opinions.
• Negotiate settlements and liaise with insurance carriers, adjusters, and clients.
• Appear in New York state and/or federal court for hearings, conferences, and trials.
