Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Illinois Bar admission and good standing.
• 4+ years of experience representing insurance carriers in coverage matters.
• Strong experience with insurance coverage analysis and policy interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze commercial insurance policies and evaluate complex coverage issues.
• Prepare substantive coverage opinions and legal analyses.
• Draft reservation of rights letters and other coverage correspondence.
• Advise carrier clients regarding the duty to defend, duty to indemnify, exclusions and other coverage issues.
• Handle declaratory judgment actions and other insurance coverage litigation.
• Research and brief complex insurance law and policy interpretation issues.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs and appellate filings.
• Work directly with claims professionals and insurance carrier representatives.

A well-established law firm is looking to add an experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney to its Chicago practice.

This is a dedicated insurance coverage position representing insurance carriers in complex coverage matters. The attorney will have meaningful responsibility for coverage analysis, policy interpretation, coverage opinions and coverage litigation, along with direct interaction with carrier clients and claims professionals.

This is a strong opportunity for an attorney who enjoys the analytical side of insurance coverage but also wants to be involved in the litigation when coverage disputes escal ate.

What You'll Do

• Analyze commercial insurance policies and evaluate complex coverage issues
• Prepare substantive coverage opinions and legal analyses
• Draft reservation of rights letters and other coverage correspondence
• Advise carrier clients regarding the duty to defend, duty to indemnify, exclusions and other coverage issues
• Handle declaratory judgment actions and other insurance coverage litigation
• Research and brief complex insurance law and policy interpretation issues
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs and appellate filings
• Work directly with claims professionals and insurance carrier representatives
• Manage matters independently while working closely with the broader coverage team
