Oliver James Group is partnering with a growing insurance organization to hire a Controller based on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting across multiple units, and partners with senior leadership to drive growth.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, can manage a team of about four professionals, ensures strong internal controls, and remains adaptable as priorities evolve. Public accounting experience is welcome, CPA or MBA preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong GAAP and statutory accounting knowledge; insurance experience preferred.
• Experience managing remote or hybrid teams is a plus.
• Public accounting experience welcomed for industry leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across multiple business units, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure GAAP and statutory compliance for insurance organizations.
• Lead and develop a team of ~4 accounting professionals.
• Establish robust internal controls and accounting processes.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Coordinate external audits and manage banking relationships.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on special projects and initiatives.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and adaptable culture within accounting.
