A leading insurance platform based in New York seeks an experienced Controller to own financial reporting and shape finance functions as the company scales. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years in insurance accounting, experience with statutory reporting, and a deep understanding of GAAP. You will be key to building financial processes in a dynamic environment, reporting to the CFO, and leading a team while ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of US insurance accounting experience, with a preference for life/health.
• Deep experience with Blue Books statutory reporting.
• Proven ability to build accounting processes in high-growth environments.
• Strong ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.).
• Proven ability to build processes in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Leadership or team-management experience preferred.
• CPA is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own US statutory financial reporting for multiple life/health entities.
• Build GAAP accounting processes and support group-level consolidated reporting.
• Oversee and grow a small accounting team while remaining hands-on.
• Lead journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and process development.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
• Communicate complex technical accounting concepts simply and clearly.
• Run the audit process and help develop accounting policies.

We’re partnering with a rapidly growing life & annuity business that's building a modern, tech-enabled insurance platform. They're looking for a hands-on Controller who can own financial reporting, build processes from scratch, and play a key role in shaping the finance function as the company scales.

• Strong ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.)
• Proven ability to build processes in a dynamic, high‑growth environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Leadership or team‑management experience preferred
