Job summary

Atlantic Region CBO in Central, LA is seeking a Collection Specialist to handle follow up and resolution of patient and third party accounts receivable balances. The role requires knowledge of third party payer rules, Medicare/Medicaid, and strong communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, good negotiation abilities and attention to HIPAA guidelines are important. You will identify billing issues, update patient records, work with major payers, and support cash flow by reducing aging

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in an office setting preferred.
• Knowledge of managed care payers and medical terminology is preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly, build relationships and work with minimal supervision.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; analytical, organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform follow up activities on accounts to ensure prompt payment.
• Identify coding or billing errors from EOBs and work to correct them.
• Update the patient account record to identify actions taken.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and department policies.
• Identify trends and carrier issues; report findings to Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Pursue continued education to stay current with changes in healthcare.
• Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Contribute to team effort by achieving related results.
• Assist with increasing cash flow by decreasing aging accounts receivable.
• Promote effective working relations and teamwork to meet goals.
