Job summary

TAL, a leading life insurer, is seeking a Claims Consultant to manage life insurance claims from start to finish within our Group space across AusSuper. You will deliver a seamless customer experience and work with advisers, trustees and fund administrators.

You will independently manage a portfolio of IP and TPD claims, assess and finalise payments, and collaborate with external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants and in-house specialists to drive timely outcomes for customers.

Qualifications

• Experience managing group life insurance claims, IP and/or TPD preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and empathy to support customers during challenging times.
• Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a best-in-class customer and client experience, regularly communicating the status of claims to advisers, trustees and fund administrators, and managing expectations to achieve high-quality outcomes.
• Independently manage a portfolio of Total Permanent Disability (TPD) and Income Protection (IP) claims end-to-end.
• Assess, analyse, calculate and finalise claim payments.
• Engage external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants, and in-house medical and legal specialists to enable timely outcomes for customers.
• Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with our philosophy, policy and claims procedures.
• Participate in case conferences, peer case discussions, and instruct third-party service providers.

• Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment.
