Job summary

Allied World National Assurance Company is seeking a Claims Professional to investigate, evaluate, and resolve insurance and reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business in New York. Responsibilities

• Manage a vigorous caseload of claims across multiple lines of business
• Analyze claims on multiple lines of business
• Review documents to verify coverage and establish case reserves
• Draft accurate and timely coverage correspondence
• Verify financial information and process payments with reinstatement offset
• Manage litigation by interacting with insureds, brokers, and defense counsel
• Collaborate with counsel on litigation strategy and claim resolution
• Negotiate and resolve claims within delegated authority
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, including mediations
• Prepare claim summaries and executive reports
• Generate reports and participate in special projects
• Attend relevant industry conferences/meetings
• Assist with claims-related audits and work with reinsurers

Job Summary:

Investigate, evaluate, and resolve insurance/reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business. Engage in collaborative projects in support of other areas of the company, including underwriting, finance and accounting, actuarial, operations, and technology. Provide superior service to all customers, whether internal or external.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Claims Management

• Efficiently manage a vigorous caseload of claims involving a broad spectrum of accounts and coverages
• Analyze claims on multiple lines of business
• Review incoming documents to verify coverage and establish case reserves and where necessary Additional Case Reserves (ACRs)
• Promptly investigate matters, analyze coverage, and draft accurate and timely coverage correspondence
• Verify financial information and process payment requests with reinstatement offset where appropriate

Litigation & Settlement

• Manage litigation by effectively interacting with insureds, brokers, defense counsel and other parties as required
• Instruct and collaborate with counsel regarding litigation strategy and claim resolution
• Negotiate and resolve claims within scope of delegated authority
• Represent Company in resolution of claims and participate in legal proceedings, including mediations

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Conduct claim reviews at ceding companies when requested
• Interact with underwriters concerning renewals, prospective accounts, and individual claims
• Meet with existing or prospective insureds and brokers
• Liaise with other departments as required and provide assistance when needed

Reporting & Administration

• Prepare claim summaries, executive reports, and other management reports as necessary
• Generate various reports as required and work on special projects as needed
• Attend and/or present at relevant industry conferences/meetings
• Assist with claims-related queries in internal and external audits
• Work with reinsurers as needed
