Job summary

Sentry is hiring an Advanced Analytics Modeler in Stevens Point, WI, to translate raw data into actionable business information. The role, in the Advanced Analytics Department, will build pricing, underwriting, sales, and claims models with quantitative techniques and data science tools.

Hybrid work is available, with on-site presence in Stevens Point and collaboration with modelers, actuaries, and data analysts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or closely related quantitative field.
• Master’s degree, a relevant postgraduate certificate or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience preferred.
• Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate across groups.
• Proficiency in statistical software tools; Python is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of data extraction, validation, and practical statistical modeling.

Responsibilities

• Build comprehensive analytics solutions to improve business outcomes such as pricing accuracy, resource efficiencies, and trend identification.
• Identify data sources and build raw data queries in Snowflake, SQL, or Python.
• Create Python-based data transformations and assemble predictive modeling datasets.
• Apply statistical techniques (regression, GLMs, gradient boosting, neural networks) to model business problems.
• Communicate with stakeholders to align analytics with business outcomes.
• Create Tableau visualizations to communicate model performance and insights.
• Collaborate with modelers, actuaries, and data analysts to improve solutions.
• Monitor models and data quality over time.
